Police: Man claims he was robbed while buying drugs
A Cape Coral man told police he was battered and robbed on Sept. 11 by a man he was attempting to buy marijuana from.
The 23-year-old victim reportedly told police he visited a residence in the 1700 block of Northwest Ninth Place to buy marijuana from a white male named “Dave” for $18.
“Dave” said he would not sell the drugs for less than $50, and pistol whipped him with a handgun in the face and head, the victim said.
A witness at the home said “Dave” waived a handgun in the air for five to 10 minutes before the victim was able to leave and call police.
A last name, date of birth or address for the suspect could not be determined, and the suspect left the residence on foot prior to police arrival, according to reports.
Photographs of the victim’s injuries were taken into forensic evidence.
The victim refused medical attention and wished to press charges against the suspect, police said.
The investigation is ongoing, according to reports.
