McGuire named honor graduate, receives Outstanding Recruit Award
PFC David M. McGuire graduated from Recruit Training Battalion Paris Island, SC, on Oct. 10 as Platoon 1078 Honor Graduate. PFC McGuire was then chosen Bravo Company Honor Graduate out of eight platoon honor graduates.
McGuire received a Certificate of Commendation from the Commanding Officer, Lt. Colonel P.L. Muller. The commendation stated, “His sustained superior performance and dedication to excellence resulted in his selection as the Honor Gradate for Company B.” He also received the Navy League of the United States Outstanding Recruit Award.
After a brief visit at home in North Fort Myers, PFC McGuire traveled to Camp Lejuene, NC, to Marine Combat Training school. He was then selected out of 242 peers in his battalion for another honor – Hotel Company Honor Graduate. He demonstrated “sustained superior performance and leadership,” said Commanding Officer Colonel C.L. Sbragia of the U.S. Marine Corp. “His accomplishments are deserving of special recognition.”
PFC McGuire is now in Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland for further specialized training.
McGuire is the son of David and Cathy McGuire of North Fort Myers, and the grandson of the late Thomas and Sybil McGuire, also local residents. He is the nephew of Peter and Chelo McGuire of Cape Coral.
