Rotary Club to raffle off painting
The Rotary Club of Cape Coral is reaching out to the community again. The group is trying to sell raffle tickets for a piece of artwork by Roy Schallenberg, a Cape artist who was recently featured in the annual downtown art festival.
Tickets are $5 each for the painting, which is valued at $1,500. The artwork is currently on display behind the desk of Nancy Kratt at the Florida Community Bank on Del Prado Boulevard.
“It’s a real pretty piece, very modern looking,” Kratt said. “You wouldn’t believe how many people have come in and commented on it.”
Kratt serves as the business development officer for Florida Community Bank. She has been a resident of the Cape since the 1970s, and has been a member of the Rotary Club many different times during her 30-plus years of residence.
She said the painting will make several appearances around the Cape over the next few months in an effort to boost ticket sales.
The winner of the painting will not be known until Red, White & Boom! in July.
The painting will be on display at the Celebrate Cape Coral Block Party in March for those who are interested, but do not have an opportunity to stop by Florida Community Bank.
“We’re going to be selling tickets all the way until Red, White, & Boom!, which will give us an opportunity to raise more funds,” Kratt said. “We’re going to be taking it around to various clubs, to the block, to anyone that will see us.”
Kratt called Schallenberg’s painting “abstract,” and said it goes a long way toward helping the Cape.
As a gift to the Rotary Club, all proceeds raised from Schallenberg’s work will be put into the club’s charity fund, which serves multiple community organizations and educational programs.
Kratt said the charity fund helps a “variety of community service projects,” and all money raised from the painting will go back into the community.
