FDLE arrests former police sergeant
Florida Department of Law Enforcement special agents arrested former Arcadia Police Department Sgt. Kenneth Bennett Tuesday and charged him with eight counts of unlawful sexual activity with minors, two counts of official misconduct, and three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, officials said today.
The investigation began in November 2008 after FDLE was contacted by the Arcadia Police Department regarding an internal investigation they had done on Bennett. Bennett resigned from the department amid the internal investigation. FDLE’s investigation revealed that approximately four years ago, Bennett, while employed with the Arcadia Police Department, had sexual relations with minors, provided alcohol and narcotics, and altered police department documents.
Bennett was booked into Indian River County Jail. The case will be prosecuted by the State Attorney’s Office, 12th Judicial Circuit.
