Foxmoor Plaza Festival features Budweiser Clydesdales

By Staff | Mar 31, 2009

The world famous Budweiser Clydesdale Hitch Team visited Foxmoor Plaza during the Spring Festival March 25.

“Everybody really seemed to enjoy the horses,” said Danielle Hall of Bayshore Physical Therapy. “They paraded around the plaza to the delight of visitors.”

It was one of the team’s first area stops. They later went to a Red Sox game and to the Lehigh Acres Spring Festival.

“There were quite a few community members that showed up to watch them enter the parking lot and got their pictures taken with them,” said Sherry Collier, owner of the Plaza’s Brightway Insurance. “The businesses in Foxmoor Plaza contributed to the event by offering drinks, chips, popcorn, cookies, balloons for kids and even free massages.”

She said she decided to make a fun team business day out of it.

“We were able to get a picture of our entire team with them [the horses] in front of our business, and we all enjoyed the festivities,” she said. “It was something different than every day, to enjoy with the community.”

Debbie Tiercy, owner of Quik-Pak and Ship, said the horses were magnificent. “The thing I liked is that it actually brought the community together,” she said. “In hard times, people can’t afford to go to say, Busch Gardens or other parks, to see something like the Clydesdales. It gave them the opportunity to see them close up and it was a wonderful event.”

Ka-Yo the Clown was also a popular part of the event.

“There was a line of kids waiting for balloon flowers and animals,” Hall said.

“We also do a Fall Festival, and want to do an annual spring event, something different every year.”

Most of the shops in the plaza participated in the festival. Plaza stores participating included Water and Ice to Go, Brandon Gregories Hair Salon, The Book Rack, Bayshore Physical Therapy and Massage, Cape Cleaners, Quik-Pak and Ship, JJ Nails, Chen’s Garden, Family Dollar, Bealls Outlet, Brightway Insurance, Subway and Sweetbay.

The plaza is located at 5660 Bayshore Road.
