Police arrested a Fort Myers man Friday night in connection with a shooting that left two people injured Monday night.
Fort Myers police charged Eric Leroy Rayner, 36, of 3729 Minnesota Drive, with two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm.
Detectives were able to develop Rayner as a suspect through interviews with the victims and witnesses, officials said, adding Rayner has confessed to the crime.
Police were called to Edison Avenue and Pauldo Street May 25 when gunfire was reported. Police found two people suffering from gunshot wounds. William Simmons , 21, was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital with a non-life threatening injury. Charles Herzberger, 26, was also transported to the hospital with a more serious injury. At the time of the shooting the two victims were walking away from a large gathering of people that were hanging out near the Stars Complex.
