Lehigh Chamber celebrates 55th anniversary

The Lehigh Acres Chamber of Commerce will celebrate the 55th anniversary of the founding of Lehigh Acres with a day of fun for the family. The celebration will be held on the lawn of Lehig Regional Medical Center Saturday, Aug. 1, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and will be open to the public. Among the activities to entertain families are The East Lee County High School Drama Club storytelling and stomp team; Lee Combat Sports Martial Arts Sparrin Exhibitions and photo ops with martial arts champions.

In addition, Truly Nolen will have its Mouse limo on hand for photo opportunities along with other antique cars. There will also be bounce houses, celebrity dunk tank, bake-off and face painting.

Parking fees and pool admission waived last weekend in July

Parking fees will be waived at Lee County regional parks and boat ramps and swimmers will have free admission to county pools on the weekend of Saturday, July 25, and Suday, July 26.

Lee County Commissioners waived the parking fees and pool admission in celebration of National Parks & Recreation Month, which is marked each July. The Board of County Commissioners urges all citizens to rediscover our parks, especially the weekend of July 25- 26.

Kids Kayaking Club

Explore the Shoreline by way of the Great Calusa Blueway. Kayaking Kids will start at Bowditch Point daily and travel by vans to discover new sections of the Blueay each day. Activities will include basic instruction, paddling, hiking, swimming, water safety, crafts and games. Interpretive programs will also be presented at each session along the way. All equipment is included.

Bring a hat, sunscreen, bag lunch, wter bottle and be prepared to have fun!

Programs run from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily and are open for children ages 9 to 14. All participants must pre-register at www.leeparks.org or by calling 533-7440. Program dates are July 29th, 30th and 31st. The cot is $25 per session/day.

Southwest Florida Symphony to hold auditions

The Southwest lorida Symphony will hold Chorus Auditions for adults and children chorus’ on Saturday Aug. 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Monday Aug. 31, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at First Baptist Church in downtown Fort Myers.

The Youth Orchestra Auditions will be held Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 with time and location will be announced.
