Two Pawn Shops Cited For Violations

On Thursday, August 6, 2009, members of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office South (Delta) District Criminal Investigation Division conducted random inspections of pawn shops in San Carlos Park. The investigation resulted in three arrests and more than eighty violations of the Florida Pawn Broker Act.

The first inspection was conducted at San Carlos Jewelry & Pawn, located at 19149 S. Tamiami Trail, Fort Myers. Investigators made contact with the owners of the business, Rick Alvin Rose (DOB1/23/51) and Marcia Rose (DOB 10/2/50). The investigation revealed a total of fifty-three violations linked to improper documentation and record keeping. Both owners were placed under arrest and charged with fifty-three misdemeanor counts of violating the Florida Pawn Broker Act.

The second inspection was conducted at Larry’s Pawn Shop, located at 19059 S. Tamiami Trail, Fort Myers. Upon arrival, detectives met with store manager Ryan Close (DOB 6/14/89). The subsequent investigation revealed thirty-five violations of the pawn broker act resulting from improper record keeping and documentation. Close was arrested and transported to the Lee County Jail. He has been charged with thirty-five misdemeanor counts of violating the Florida Pawn Broker Act.

Marcia and Rick Rose’s last known address is listed as 9739 Spring Ridge Circle, Estero 33928.

Ryan Close’s last known address is 6730 Briarcliff Road, Fort Myers 33912.
