Dr. Larry Antonucci, chief operating officer of Cape Coral Hospital, will begin serving as Lee Memorial Health System’s chief operating officer starting Sept. 1.
The position was recently created and Antonucci will have leadership responsibilities over the four hospital campuses — Lee Memorial, HealthPark Medical Center, Gulf Coast Medical Center and Cape Coral Hospital.
“I’m very honored by the opportunity to serve in this position and I’m looking forward to working closely with everyone at all of the hospitals,” said Antonucci. “I believe my perspective as both a long-time practicing physician and as a hospital administrator will bring value to the Lee Memorial Health System.”
Antonucci practiced obstetrics and gynecology for 25 years before joining Cape Coral Hospital. In 2006, he served as medical director at Cape Coral Hospital and was medical director for Lee Memorial Health System’s obstetric services. He was also the chief administrative officer at Cape Coral Hospital.
The health system wants Antonucci’s new position as chief operating officer to bring each of the hospitals closer as it tries to embark on health care in the 21st century and launch its Electronic Medical Record software.
New medical record software allows patient information, displays, features and other information to be easily shared electronically inside hospitals and between practices.
“We feel extremely fortunate to be able to appoint a long-standing member of our medical community to this post,” said Lee Memorial Health System President Jim Nathan. “This will help to ensure not only a connection among all of our hospitals, but also a connection with the dedicated physicians who practice in our community.”
Antonucci earned his medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine, and a master’s of business administration from University of South Florida.
