Mike Greenwell’s will kick off its 18th year of 12 ghoulish nights of terror on their annual Haunted Hike, starting Oct. 2.
“There are some really great fresh ideas back there,” Mike Greenwell’s Manager Dana Waters said.
She said the path and trail is the same for the Haunted Hike, but she explained that they do different themes every year, so those who come will experience a different terror.
“It’s going to be a good one,” she said.
Waters said the Haunted Hike is the longest consecutive running event of its type in Southwest Florida.
The event will be held on Oct. 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24 and Oct. 28 through Oct. 31. It is $10 per person. The Haunted Hike begins at dark and ends around 11 p.m.
She said they have 14 different scenes set up on a trail through the woods. Participants can expect to see clowns, chainsaws and zombies throughout the hike.
“It tends to be a scary event,” Waters said. She said they do not put a certain age on the event because she has witnessed a 6-year-old smiling after the hike and a 16-year-old hysterically crying.
Mike Greenwell’s also will host the 18th annual free Safe Trick or Treat event for kids who are 12 years old and younger on Friday, Oct. 30, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Waters said 19 different sponsors, who are local business owners, decorate a hole on the golf course for the children to go trick-or-treating.
She said that some businesses decorate their hole elaborately and others keep it really simple.
“It’s kid friendly, but Halloween themed,” Waters added.
She explained that the event is safe for the children, adding that “parents don’t have to be concerned about going door to door.”
Although the event is free, Waters said donations of pet food and supplies are greatly appreciated for those who attend the event.
