On Saturday, Feb. 25, members of the Ralph W. Sparks American Legion Post 336 will host a building dedication and grand opening of their new post, along with a membership drive and other events.
That includes the rededicated of their POW Remembrance Table, with ceremonies, food and music all day long.
"The dedication will be at 10 a.m. with the rededication of our POW Remembrance Table at 11 a.m.," said member Judy Griffith. "There will be a performance by The Calendar Girls at noon and between 1 and 3 p.m. music by Sandy and Dave. There will also be a raffle and at 5:30 p.m. a buffet, and at night, more music with the local band Wooly Bully."
"The new post is fantastic," said Ladies Auxiliary president Dee Sims. "A big feature is the large new non-smoking dining room." They also have smoking seats available at the bar.
There is also a large lounge with game tables, and great food daily, she said.
The post is comprised of the Legion itself, a ladies auxiliary, Sons of the American Legion and the American Legion Riders.
She is inviting members of the community to come view the new facility, and consider joining the post. "To join, a membership requirement is an honorable discharge from any military branch. Dues fluctuate, you ask representatives the details."
Bartender Rose Doyle serves at new American Legion Post. "It really is wonderful. Everyone is very happy with the new building."
"We are now serving lunch with daily specials Monday through Friday, noon until 2:30 p.m. The food is excellent - our cook is doing a great job," said spokesperson Chris Wainman. "We are also open for dinners Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday from 5:30 p.m. on."
There is also a breakfast buffet on Sundays for $5, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., open to the public.
