Two sister companies on the border of North Fort Myers and Cape Coral are providing healthy services to the community and out-of-towners - including a pitcher from the Boston Red Sox.

The Lean Box was created to make healthy eating available and affordable, while Camp Fit offers training regimens that consist of plyometric, core, strength, conditioning and balance.

The two companies are side by side on Hancock Bridge Parkway.

"We are all about health and fitness," said owner Dayana Espaillat. Her partner is husband Leo. "The Lean Box is about healthy food; we have a full kitchen facility where all of the meals are made fresh."

They are boxed and sold in the storefront.

"There are several options - a full day's worth of meals, a personalized custom program as well and sports specific programs for athletes. We also do family-style dinners," she said.

"My husband and I have been in the health and fitness industry for 15 years, and we also work with a registered dietitian."

With the two businesses, it is fitness and nutrition combined and very affordable, Espaillat added. They work with many athletes.

"We work with directly with the Boston Red Sox. I'm actually feeding pitcher Josh Beckett, through their trainer Pat Sandora. They are all great, really, really nice people over there at the stadium."

They also work with a lot of NFL players when they are here off season, and worked with the Olympic Track Team from Checkoslovakia last year.

"When we first started, we created relationships with sports trainers because we could create what they needed, the personalized meals," Espaillat said.

Derek Touchette is the director of sports performance at the well-recognized Velocity Sports in Naples who works with the companies.

"I was actually looking for a personal chef to work with my college guys preparing for the NFL Combine pre-draft. They took care of the foods and were very willing to make sure these guys got their daily amount of carbohydrates, protein and fats, all prepared organically."

Camp Fit is at 4430 Hancock Bridge Pkwy. #5 and The Lean Box right next door. To learn more go to getleanbox.com or campfittraining.com, or call 656-0358.
