Love & Laughter Day Care Center has just received licensing to now be open nights and weekends as well as during daily pre-school hours.

"The new hours will be 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week," said owner Michele Wedemeyer.

The center is licensed through the Department of Children and Families, with the license number C20LE6752.

"We accept infants through pre-school age children daily as well as the before and after school programs, and are offering transportation to and from most of the local elementary schools. I'm trying to help in this economy to offer day care part-time, full-time, day care, evening care and weekends with special rates," she said.

"We also have a great summer program planned for school-agers, with lots of activities, including arts and crafts, great games and field trips. The summer program will be $50 per week, which will include all meals - breakfast, lunch, snacks, milk, juice - everything is included. We accept 4-C," she said.

Part of the center is also the private school branch, a private Christian school for kids K though 12 called Agape Christian Academy.

"We are accepting MacKay Scholarships and Step Up for Students scholarships. We specialize in children who have lower slower learning challenges. We have very small classroom sizes, so the children get more one-one with teachers."

Last year, Wedemeyer helped local parents, foster parents and guardians apply for free government scholarships to the private school, whether they wanted to attend her school or not.

She said she is very proud of her center.

"The center also has a huge shaded playground area. All teachers are background/finger printed checked and have extensive training."

The new hours will be Monday through Sunday 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week.

For more information about new hours, rates or scholarships, call Wedemeyer at 656-6800. The school and the center is at 1313 Laurel Dr. in North Fort Myers.
