The deaths of a man and woman found dead at their North Fort Myers home Friday morning are likely the result of a murder/suicide, officials said.

Deputies were called at 6:50 a.m. by neighbors who reported the sound of gunshots in the peaceful community surrounding Teasdale Drive, near the border of Cape Coral and Lochmoor Waterway Estates.

They found the bodies Sara Grindrod, 31, and Michael Francis Grindrod, 41.

"It was apparently a murder suicide," said Sheriff's Office spokesperson Lt. Larry King, of the shooting incident that occurred May 11.

While not formally designated as such, the Major Crimes Unit is calling it a murder /suicide investigation.

"We responded to reports of shots fired in what appears to be a domestic dispute among three adults," said King. "David Allen Sill, who is a friend of Mrs. Sara Grindrod, sustained non-life threatening injuries and was able to flee to a nearby residence.

"Meanwhile, an argument continued from inside the home, ending up proceeding outside, where Sara Grindrod sustained fatal injury. Then Michael Francis Grindrod, the perpetrator of the crime, ended his own life."

The investigation is on-going, said King, who added this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community.
