* College Night
It's never too early for students to start gathering information on what they want to do after they graduate from high school. Some will be going on to college, while others may be looking for specialized training to enter the world of work. Regardless which path students may take, they will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from various institutions of learning, thanks to College Night 2012.
College Night 2012, hosted by Lee County Public Schools and the City of Fort Myers, is being held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, at the Harborside Event Center, 1375 Monroe St., Fort Myers.
A grant through the City of Fort Myers has helped defer the cost for the use of the venue for this event. This is a great example of Lee County governmental agencies working together to help our students.
College Night will feature over 100 representatives from different colleges, universities, art and culinary institutes as well as military academies. Some of the finest post-secondary institutions in the country will be represented. These representatives reserve a booth to display information pertaining to their institution and they are there to answer any questions students or their families may have. While College Night is designed for 11th and 12th graders, it is free and open to the public.
Book Signing
* Andrea Galabinski, editor of the North Fort Myers Neighbor and feature writer for the Cape Coral Breeze, has just published her first novel -"Pyschic Cassadaga."
It is the mystery of the murder of a psychic in a psychic town, set in the real life psychic town of Cassadaga, Fla. A book signing is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 15, at the Shell Factory from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

* Tiger Bay Club of Southwest Florida
The Tiger Bay Club of Southwest Florida has announced that political consultant and commentator James Carville will headline the club's annual dinner event, scheduled for Monday, Sept. 17, at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort & Spa in Bonita Springs. Registration and networking will begin at 6 p.m., with dinner and program at 7.

Carville is nationally recognized as a political consultant, analyst, pundit, media personality and author of best-selling books on a broad range of topics. The former co-host of CNN's "Crossfire" gained prominence as a political mastermind for his work on Bill Clinton's 1992 presidential campaign. Carville, nicknamed "The Ragin' Cajun," is a recurring guest on CNN's "The Situation Room," and often debates political topics with his wife, Republican strategist Mary Matalin.
Carville's presentation will provide insight into the post-convention political scene and what he expects for the November elections. The no-holds-barred summary will include analysis of both parties' efforts to win the White House, U.S. Senate and House seats, and much more.

* 5th Annual Peace Day in the Park
The fifth annual Peace Day in the Park will be held at Jaycee Park Sunday, Sept. 23, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. "Peace Day in the Park 2008" kicked off the annual celebration as a grass roots project with a simple goal, to spread the awareness that a single day of peace does in fact exist - Sept. 21, the International Day of Peace! This is a free event to be enjoyed by all, and there will be something for everyone.
* Concerned Citizens of Bayshore Community
The Concerned Citizens of Bayshore Community meets most months, on the third Monday of the month, at the New Hope Christian Church on Tarpon Way, across from Lawhon's Store. The meetings start at 6:30 PM. The primary focus of the group is to preserve the rural quality of life for Bayshore residents. * Restful Yoga
The North Fort Myers Community Center will have YOGA classes on Wednesday evenings from 6:15 p.m .-7:15 p.m.

The Italian Fest will return to the Alliance for the Arts Oct. 7. The annual outdoor event benefits the Rotary Club Foundation and Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida.
