Edward Thomas Cunningham Sr., 88, of North Fort Myers, Fla. died Jan. 25, 2013 at the Life Care Center of Punta Gorda, Fla. He was born Nov. 26, 1924 in East St. Louis, IL, a child of Homer and Veronica (Duke) Cunningham.
A resident of North Fort Myers for the past 25 years, he previously lived in Belleville, IL and was a gas fitter and plumber for Illinois Power until he retired in 1989. A member of Local 360; he was a fitter for 55 years. He was a member of the Hibernia Club and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Louise D. (Armstrong) Cunningham, his sons, Edward Thomas (Denise) Cunningham II. of Edwardsville, IL and Michael H. (Nichole) Cunningham of North Fort Myers, FL, seven grandchildren, one great granddaughter and his brother, James (Mary) Huffman of Freeburg, IL. He was preceded in death by his son, Steven P. Cunningham, his father, Homer Cunningham and his mother, Veronica Cunningham Huffman and brothers John (Jack) Cunningham and Joseph Huffman.
The funeral will be held privately by the family. Burial will be held privately at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
