Where’s our compassion?
To the editor:
I was appalled and then saddened at the lack of knowledge shown about the arduous process of vetting people from other countries. They support the President’s ban on people who are being decimated in their countries of origin and believe they are all terrorists out to kill us
Please do your research and you will see that vetting is a two or more year process with multiple safeguards and is geared at letting people who are being starved, burned and bombed out of their homes and possessions and left utterly penniless with no place to go find safety that, not that many years ago, welcomed foreigners to our great country
It’s not only our country’s history but what any of us who call ourselves Christians want for people who are in this position through no fault of their own
Please be assured the vetting process is long and arduous. Perhaps look up the many churches throughout this country that have taken these people in and are helping them make lives here and talk to their pastor to allay your fears
Lastly, none of the groups you mentioned are in favor of allowing terrorists into the country. They are trying to do what Jesus would do and help people who have been vetted multiple times and have been waiting years to come here for a better life as our grandparents and great grandparents did.
