Don’t bring your high taxes here

By Staff | Jun 13, 2018

To the editor:

Last week School Board Member Chris Patricca wrote a guest column in support of a tax increase for the school district. A “poverty stricken” school district which just gave a raise to its superintendent in order for him to make well over $200,000 a year.

What struck me about Ms. Patricca’s letter was that she writes that she is originally from New York and has lived in Lee County for six years.

I can never understand why New Yorkers flee their high tax state complaining of high taxes which they love, then come to the Deep South, ie Lee County, Florida, and the first thing they do when they come here is start to agitate for high taxes so they can destroy Florida like they destroyed New York. These folks must understand Lee County is more of a suburb culturally of Alabama than of New York as is most of Florida with the exception of a couple of counties in Southeast Florida and the Orlando area.

I say if you do not like low taxes including low school taxes y’all can move on back to NY, NJ, MA, MI or any other high tax state from which you fled and let us live in peace in our no state income tax state and low property tax state we want to live in! In return we won’t move North and demand y’all lower your sky-high taxes.
