Weaver’s Deli builds on tasty new menu

November 21, 2018

For decades, England's Deli was a mainstay in North Fort Myers, with countless customers coming in throughout the years for a sandwich or to buy lunchmeat for the family.

But after several ownership changes, it just wasn't the same, and new owner Dion Singh realized that.

Upon buying the deli in May, Singh changed everything, including the name, which is now Weaver's Deli at the Weaver's Corner Shopping Center on the corner of Old 41 and Bayshore Road, just a few short steps from the post office, at 1886 N. Tamiami Trail.

Singh said after two previous owners couldn't replicate England's legacy, it was time to try something new.

"We changed up the whole menu. We brought in Boar's Head meat, which is a high-quality cold cut and changed things around, which changed the complexity of the subs here previously," said Singh, who, with his daughter, Ashley, and a couple others are trying to start a new tradition in the plaza.

While the sheet-metal walls have stayed, the colors have changed, as has the seating to make it more inviting.

What hasn't changed is the fact they still do hot and cold subs and sandwiches. Their signature subs include the Trio with your choice of three meats and cheese, and the Blimpie with Hoboken ham, capicola, salami, pepperoni and cheese, with all the usual toppings if you want to go "all the way."

There are also Philly Cheesesteaks, Cubans, Gyros, tuna melts, chef salads and much more

"We are very diverse from hot to cold. We also make a variety of salads and soups in house," Singh said. "We have a lot of variety as compared to the previous owners."

Sales were strong over the summer as many Boar's Head fans came into a place where few delis have it. Also, with the traffic Weaver's Corner gets, it has actually sold itself.

"The people here are great. We do our own different menus and we have a non-compete clause here. I can't so some of the things the diners do," Singh said.

Weaver's Deli is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
