Mark Our Words: Two new board members added at Civic

February 27, 2019
By Doug Dailey , North Fort Myers Neighbor

The North Fort Myers Civic Association added two new board of directors that were voted in by the general membership and one that was appointed by the board of directors to fill a remaining term at our February General Membership meeting held on Feb. 12. The three new board of directors are Michelle Ayers, Paula Marquis, and Bruce Vanderveen. These new directors replaced outgoing board of directors Dora Miller, and Andy Rosman. Newly installed board of directors' member Michelle Ayers was voted in by a majority of board of directors vote to serve out the two years remaining on the term left by former director Mark Lipton. We wish all of the new board of directors well in their new endeavors. We also thank Dora and Andy for their time and dedication to the North Fort Myers Civic Association and wish them happiness in their futures as well.

After the election of the new board of directors, the North Fort Myers Civic Association voted on the officers for 2019. We are proud to announce that all of the 2018 North Fort Myers Civic Association Officers were re-elected for the 2019 term. The 2019 Officers are Doug Dailey, President Danny Ballard Vice-President, Rudy Berndlmaier 2nd Vice-President, Laura Lewis Secretary, Kim Tester, Treasurer.

During our general membership meeting the members of the association were offered the opportunity to speak about what they felt are some issues that the North Fort Myers Civic Association should approach for 2019. One of the main concerns from the membership was that of unlisensed vendors that have been popping up throughout the North Fort Myers area, especially on the weekends. We, as an association, will be forwarding this concern to the Lee County Code Enforcement Department for their assistance in getting these unsightly vendors removed from our area.

We were also happy to announce the success of our inaugural Wiffle Ball Bash Fundraising event to our general membership as well. The Wiffle Ball Bash far exceeded our expectations for its initial year. The board of directors will decide how best to distribute the funds generated from this event to better serve the members of our community. We will keep you posted on these decisions.

We are inviting everyone to come meet with us and share in having a hearty pancake breakfast with us as well on Saturday, March 2, from 8-10 a.m. at the Applebee's restaurant at Merchants Crossings. Tickets for the breakfast are only $10 and includes a very hearty stack of pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, and your drink is included. Tickets are available by contacting us through our website at NFMCIVIC.com and clicking on the contact us link. Just state you would like pancake tickets along with your name and phone number and we will get right back with you. Tickets can also be purchased at the door during the time of the event.

We have also confirmed a date and time for our annual Town Hall meeting in conjunction with the North Fort Myers Planning Panel and Design and Review Committee. Our Town Hall meeting will be held Wednesday, April 3, at 6 p.m. and will be held at the North Fort Myers Recreation Center. We will post a list of our featured speakers in the next couple of weeks. Please make your plans to attend this extremely informative meeting about our community.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the North Fort Myers Civic Association you can apply for membership on our website at NFMCIVIC.com and click on the "Join Us" link.
