Fallen law enforcement officers to be honored at annual service

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office will host the annual service to honor the county’s fallen officers today at 9 a.m. The ceremony will he held outside the sheriff’s office headquarters at 14750 Six Mile Cypress Parkway.
The ceremony coincides with National Peace Officers Memorial Week, a time when the entire nation remembers the brave men and women who have died protecting us.
Those being remembered and the date they died include:
— Lt. Matthew Hisler — Jan. 3, 1930
— Trooper Joseph Bertrand — Dec. 22, 1967
— Deputy Richard Eva — Feb. 12, 1972
— Deputy Michael Yahl — March 13, 1976
— Deputy Lynn Hall — April 11, 1979
— Sgt. Laroy Scott — April 3, 1981
— Cpl. Ronnie Fewell — March 16, 1983
— Detective Mark Bolhouse — Jan. 19, 1988
— Cpl. Alfredo Banos — Jan. 30, 2001
— Deputy Michael Shostak — Nov. 8, 2001
— Officer Daniel Starks — Oct. 25, 2003
— Cpl. Patrick Healey — May 13, 2004
— Deputy Margena Nunez — Oct. 22, 2006
