Tara Woods to host second event of 2008-2009 Entertainment Season
On Friday, Dec. 19, Tara Woods will host the second of its on-going 2008-2009 Entertainment Season events — a night with Paul Pitts.
Known as “a modern day Caruso,” Pitts is said to have exceptional vocal range. He’s performed around the world in England, Ireland and Italy — and even at the White House. He will sing popular songs and opera classics.
The first event of the season was held last month, an all-day variety showcase of entertainment featuring 17 acts, as part of the Tara Woods entertainment programs.
Chuck Poveromo is with the sound and lighting committee, which organizes the shows.
“The all-day Entertainment Showcase was excellent as our last show,” he said. “The day featured 18 acts and the timing worked out really well.”
Paul Pitts will also be a great show, Poveromo said.
“One of our residents saw him on a cruise and said he’s an excellent performer,” he said.
Pitts has sung in over 4,000 performances worldwide on seven continents, to over 1 billion people through television, radio, recordings and personal appearances.
Pitts was the featured soloist for the Concert of Peace in Belfast, Ireland, last year. He was praised by President George Bush and the Queen of England for his involvement in trying to bring peace to Northern Ireland.
He’s been called “a new world class tenor” and has performed in operas
including “Madame Butterfly,” “Carmen” and “La Boheme.”
In season, the Tara Woods entertainment programs have been extremely popular, drawing up to 300 people a performance. This year there’s new equipment to make them even better.
“The new speakers we got this year are working out really well.” said Poveromo.
Other Tara Woods upcoming entrainment includes:
– Jan. 24: Sonny Larosa’s America’s Youngest Jazz Band
– Feb. 19: Brian Roman, a tenor who performs Sinatra and more
– March 27: Ventriloquist Peggy Miller
