Murder fugitive apprehended
The Lee County U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force, with the assistance of the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office, located wanted a 29-year-old murder suspect and took him into custody this morning.
The task force, which includes members from the U.S. Marshal’s Office, Lee County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Department of Law Enforcement apprehended Ignacio Rebollar, at a Clewiston residence at approximately 6:40 a.m. As a result of a Crime Stoppers tip, task force members were able to use the lead information to confirm his whereabouts at 8560 County Road 833, where he was taken into custody without incident.
Rebollar was wanted in connection with the Feb. 11 murder of Rey Escobar, 36, of 591 Carolina Avenue, Fort Myers.
The victim was beaten with a bar stool and stabbed during a home invasion robbery around 7:30 a.m. His 13-year old son was bound and witnessed the horrible event. Four men had entered the home and stole jewelry from the victim.
As a result, Rebollar faces charges of first degree murder, kidnapping and home invasion robbery. He will be taken to the Lee County Jail for processing.
A second identified suspect, Antonio Franco, 26, remains at large.
