Road Rage over ducks results in motorist threatened with gun

By Staff | Apr 17, 2009

Barry Ballard, 30, of Fort Myers, was arrested in North Fort Myers Wednesday in an episode of alleged road rage, charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.

The incident happened on Hart Road, when driver David Jakubuwski, who was with his 11-year-old son, said Ballard aimed a gun at him and threatened to kill him.

The incident started when Jakubuwski said he slowed down there to allow ducks to cross the road. He alleged that Ballard’s gray sport utility vehicle nearly ran into him at that point.

Jakubuwski then stopped at the next light and there was a heated exchange, followed by Ballard pulling the gun and threatening to kill him in front of his child.

Ballard then left the scene and Jakubuwski called authorities.

Ballard was later located with the gun, arrested and transported to Lee County Jail, where he is being held on $5,000 bond.
