To the editor:

In Germany, where I lived for 23 years, medical services and prices of medications are controlled by government agencies. Having returned to the U.S. recently, I was shocked to find that in order to afford any health care at all, I had to accept a $10,000 deductible.

All Americans need and deserve the security of the stable health coverage Europeans have long enjoyed. I find it hard to understand how any of our representatives, of either party, could vote against health care reform. All who voted for this bill deserve our thanks and support. Those who did not would do well to reconsider before the final vote and give the rest of us a chance at health care similar to what they themselves enjoy.
