By Staff | Dec 3, 2009

An arrest has been made on the Tuesday, Dec. 2 assault of North Fort Myers man that happened in his own home, by a woman that has been charged with kidnapping, assault, theft and more.

Lori Martin of Fort Myers has been charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, crime against a person/elderly or disabled adult and violation of probation for larceny theft in the attack.

According to a Sheriff’s Department spokesperson, they were dispatched to Lee Memorial Hospital Emergency room and met with the victim, 60-yr-old Gennaro Digiovanni, who told them what happened.

It was an argument over his medication, detectives reported, that led to the man being held captive and tortured in his home by Martin.

Over the course of day he was beaten, tortured and threatened, he told investigators. Martin kept blocking his escape, and at one point grabbed a knife and threatened him over his pills. She sprayed household cleaner into his eyes to blind him, deputies reported.

He said she had been a friend and had allowed her to stay in his home.

Her bond is over $61,000 for all of the counts.

Martin’s last known address 9701 Orange River Blvd., Fort Myers.
