SWFL Museum hours and special night Jan. 1

By Staff | Dec 28, 2009

The Southwest Florida Museum of History will be closed December 31st (New Year’s Eve) & January 1st (New Year’s Day). The Museum will resume regular business hours on the Saturday following each holiday.

However, as a special post-holiday treat, the Museum will be open on January 1st (New Year’s night) from 6-10pm to participate in ArtWalk with a $5 discounted admission rate which includes admission to the Museum and the special showing in the Art Gallery. The Museum is a shuttle stop during ArtWalk and offers free parking on the main lot, as well as along Jackson and Peck Streets. This month, the Museum is pleased to host the Art League of Fort Myers as they present their art exhibit, Past and Future, in the Museum’s gallery, now through January 2nd.

Ten local Art League of Fort Myers member artists showcase 32 pieces of artwork ranging from oils and acrylics, to watercolors and color photographs. Participating artists have contributed work reflecting colors and themes of the season, the Southwest Florida lifestyle and area landmarks, flora and fauna, as well as images from travels around the country and beyond.

The Museum is open Tuesdays Saturdays from 10am to 4pm. Regular admission is $9.50 for adults, $8.50 for seniors (65+), and $5 for students with ID. Lee County residents receive a $1 discount on regular admission rates, and Museum members and children under age 3 are always admitted FREE! A bilingual audio tour is available at no extra charge.
