Taste, Tunes & More to benefit Animal Refuge Center
This Saturday, Feb. 20, if you are looking for a family and pet fun event, you can support the Animal Refuge Center’s first Taste, Tunes & More at Tarpon Point Marina in Cape Coral.
The event runs from noon to 6 p.m. Along with a lot music, there will be catered food from Carrabba’s, Hooters and more, along with the Total Wine Bar.
“The event will also be a chance for local vendors to showcase their products and services, but the main focus will be to raise money for ARC and provide an event that will benefit the community,” said ARC Communications Director Carlos Navedo. “It will be the perfect chance to give back and enjoy yourself while you are at it.”
Tarpon Point Marina is a great place for the event, he continued.
“It is an absolutely beautiful setting. We’ve been looking for a long time for a perfect place in Cape Coral to have such an event.”
“About 50 percent of our adoptions are through Cape Coral residents,” added ARC Treasurer Betty Hughes. “It is a way for us to thank them for all the support we’ve had from them over the years.”
Cape Coral residents who have strays that have benefitted from ARC services include Cheryl and Bernie Whitman, who not only adopted one, but two kittens recently, and call them a joy to their family.
ARC, located in North Fort Myers, is one of the largest area no-kill animal shelters.
“Also, about 50 percent of our volunteers come from Cape Coral,” said Volunteer Coordinator Lisa Morris. “We have about 600 volunteers. We are bringing some puppies (to the event) but not for adoption that day, but we hope people will then come to the shelter.”
Along with the food and music, there have been some really big items donated for people to win at the event.
“These are really high-end,” said Navedo. “One is a cruise on a 70-foot yacht, another a gourmet dinner at a million-dollar home.”
The Taste, Tunes & More event is being held in cooperation with the city of Cape Coral, Tarpon Point Marina and Carrabba’s.
Noted as family-friendly, the festival will include live music from Limpin’ Jimmy Band from New York and local bands “Head Count & Seabreeze.”
“The music will set amongst the Cape’s waterside, at one of Cape Coral’s finest venues, Tarpon Point Marina. It truly is a hidden gem within the city,” Navedo added.
For kids, there will also face painting and other activities.
Cali Motorsports will be showcasing its collection of Classic Cars and motorcycles, and there will be several yachts.
Tickets will be $10 per person and food and beverage tickets will be sold for $1 each with all proceeds benefiting ARC.
Tarpon Point Marina is located at 5902 Silver King Blvd. in Cape Coral.
