Rock icon to be missed

To the editor:

On March 24, 2010, we lost a rock and roll legend. Johnny Maestro of the Crests and Brooklyn Bridge fame passed away from cancer. He was a resident of Cape Coral for the past three years. He is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I met him personally on a DooWop cruise several years ago and attended many of his concerts over the years. He was a regular guy unlike most entertainers of today. He treated everyone as he wanted to be treated. He never put on airs that he was a star. He treated everyone as regular people just like him.

He always dedicated the song, You’ll Never Walk Alone, to veterans and active military. His loss to the music world is one of sadness. I mourn for him and send deepest condolences to his family. Take so lice in that he is now singing lead with the angels and he Will Never Walk Alone

One thing I was surprised at. The Breeze never made mention of his passing. The News Press did report it, though.
