By Staff | Aug 10, 2010

ANDREA GALABINSKI The chamber recently hosted the Great Community Treasure Hunt which brought hundreds to the Shell Factory grounds.

Look for local celebrities including Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott and Lee County Commission Chairwoman Tammy Hall to be just some of the “celebrity waiters” for the upcoming North Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce Celebrity Waiter Event on Wednesday, Aug. 18.

It is one of the biggest fund raisers for the chamber each year, said Kim Constantine, executive director. “This event is one of our primary events to support high school student scholarships,” she said. “We also have great waiters.”

Besides Scott and Hall, the list includes the ever-popular North Fort Myers Fire Chief Terry Pye who will also be on hand, and who has been known to do cartwheels for tips in the past.

“It is a wonderful event,” said Pye. “Everyone always has a great time.”

Scott has participated many years. “It is a great, great event and certainly a lot of fun for the waiters as well as the diners, with high 5-star service. I look forward to participating, and giving that service with a smile.”

Others on the list include James Roach, a candidate for U.S. Representative 14th Congressional District, another celebrity waiter. “Being a director of my own local Chamber of Commerce – Pine Island – I know how important it is to support our chambers because of the work they do to support their members. There are core employers and job creators in our county.”
