By Staff | Sep 20, 2010

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s received a report at 8:54 a.m. Monday concerning a possible child abduction around Midway and Harbor Blvd. in Port Charlotte, near Neil Armstrong Elementary School. Further investigation found that the incident occurred about 7:30 a.m.
CCSO detectives, K9, aviation helicopter, and deputies said the caller stated a man got out of a tan older model 1970’s or 80’s large sedan and approached a child age 6 or 7. The boy was wearing a red/gray horizontal striped shirt. The incident occurred in the area of Neil Armstrong Elementary School. A Child is Missing organization is doing a reverse call out in a two mile radius of the reported abduction.
The car was driven by a white male with gray hair, and the black male passenger who got out had a piece of paper in his hand and took the child by his hand. The child reportedly was resistant but did get into the vehicle. The car was last seen on Midway Blvd. between Harbor and Birchrest boulevards heading toward U.S. 41. The first two letters on the tag were L5 or LS. No other information is available at this time.
If you have information about this incident, please call the CCSO at 941-639-2101, or Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS (8477).
