After the Lee County School Board waived a 60-day notice requirement for Dr. James Browder, he received a total compensation of $366,026.25 upon his departure on Sept. 24 from the school district.
The compensation included $5,944.87 for his final wages and travel supplies of $375.70 through Sept. 24, terminal sick pay of $16,746, vacation pay of $1,339.68 and his severance pay of $341,620.
The motion to allow Browder to leave without his requiring the notice called for in his contract was made by Board member Elinor Scricca and passed 3-1, with Jeanne Dozier dissenting at the Sept. 22 board meeting.
Browder accepted the vice president of operations position at Edison State College on Monday, Sept. 20. The position entails the responsibilities of overseeing charter school facilities, public safety, technology, student housing and operational oversight for the Hendry/Glades Center in LaBelle, along with additional projects they come up.
Browder will receive a salary of $160,000 a year, compared to $167,815 as the superintendent, with a car allowance of $600.
