By Staff | Oct 21, 2010

A 17-year-old Cape Coral man was shot early this morning in Suncoast Estates
in North Fort Myers, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
“The victim was shot twice and the incident is currently under
investigation,” John Sheehan, a LCSO spokesman, said. “Detectives are
interviewing the victim and witnesses.”
The teen’s injuries were non-life threatening, he added.
The identity of the victim will not be released as he is a minor.
According to an incident report, the shooting occurred in the 7600 block of
McDaniel Drive at approximately 2:22 a.m. The victim was dropped off at the
intersection of Hart Road and Zoysia Lane, and he was standing in the street
when a car drove by. Words were exchanged and then the teen was shot.
A witness at the scene stated that he is friends with the victim, but he had
just started hanging out with him again and did not know what the victim was
“currently into,” according to the report. He was inside a nearby home when
he heard gunshots and came outside to find that the victim had been shot.
The teen was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital.
No other information is currently being released.
