Jones Joint to hold grand opening in downtown Cape

By Staff | Nov 5, 2010

Jones Joint, a new bar in downtown Cape Coral, has been operating for a few weeks now and will celebrate its grand opening today.
Starting at 2 p.m., Jones Joint will feature live music and karaoke all day long.
Barbara Jones, who co-owns the bar along with her husband Al, said getting the bar up and running has been “hectic,” but they’re happy to be operating in the downtown Community Redevelopment Agency’s boundaries.
Al said the location and rent were deciding factors in choosing the area.
“We looked around a few places and this was available and the rent was cheaper than on Matlacha,” he said.
The Joneses previously owned “Mulletville” on Matlacha, but unfortunately the business suffered extensive fire damage and they were forced to look for a new location.
A lot of their customers have been waiting for the Jonses to open a new establishment, and since the doors of Jones Joint have been open, many of their former clientele have found their way to the Cape.
Barbara said the first few days have been slow, but business has picked up over the last few days.
“Each day we’re getting more and more people coming in. It seems like we’re getting a good response,” she said.
While they only serve beer and wine for the moment, they plan on serving “deli” style food in the near future.
Drafts are $1.50 each, pitchers are $6.50, and buckets are $11.
Al Jones said they also plan on serving Sangria in the near future.
For now, as the Joneses get into the swing of things in the CRA, they hope to provide a place for new and old friends to gather. They also hope to meet some of their business neighbors.
They’re hoping the grand opening celebration will help to achieve that.
“We’re there to have fun, and we’re hoping to meet locals and business owners as well,” Barbara Jones said. “That’s why we’re having a party. We want to let people know we’re here, and we want to meet as many new friends as we can.”
Jones’ Joint is at 4820 Candia Street, next to Paesano’s Italian Market.
