A custom motorcycle worth $40,000 was stolen from the garage of a home in southwest Cape Coral, according to a police report.
Thomas James told police that he left his residence, located in the 4500 block of Southwest Sixth Avenue, at about 7:15 p.m. Saturday to attend a party a couple of blocks away. When James returned home at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday, the garage door was open and his motorcycle was missing.
The bike is described as a 2005 Pro Street, ASM custom motorcycle that is yellow and purple. James said he has entered the bike in a couple of shows.
“It was a hand-built bike for me,” he said. “I designed it and everything.”
According to the report, the side garage door had been forced opened and the handle to the side door had been broken off. It appears that the person who stole the motorcycle also took the broken, side door handle with them.
James said the motorcycle was taken without the keys.
“I wasn’t happy,” he said. “I do have insurance, but nothing near what it was worth.”
Nothing else was take from the garage or home, the report states.
James provided photographs of the motorcycle to police.
“It’s very very different,” he said. “It’s not just like a Harley Davidson or anything.”
