Investigators seeking help to locate vehicle
Investigators are seeking help in locating a third vehicle that may have been in the area of a traffic crash that left two dead and two critically injured in Lehigh Monday night.
After speaking with witnesses, detectives believe there was another vehicle in the area at the time of the 9:14 p.m. crash at E. 6th Street and Highland Avenue involving a Ford Mustang and Ford Ranger pickup.
The occupants of the pickup truck, a male and a female, died at the scene. The occupants of the
Mustang were in critical condition Tuesday, officials said.
Detectives with the Traffic Homicide Unit of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office have determined the Mustang crossed the centerline and drove into the path of the pickup, officials said.
Investigators now want to speak with the occupants of a vehicle believed to have been a small, dark, sports-type vehicle with a loud exhaust – possibly a Honda. This vehicle left the area before law enforcement arrived on scene.
Anyone who would like to provide information about this vehicle and who wishes to remain anonymous can do so through Crime Stoppers. All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000. Tips may also be made on-line at www.swflcrimestoppers.org .
The names of the dead and injured have not been released.
