Cape firefighters rescue man from burning home
Cape Coral firefighters rescued a badly burned man from a house fire Friday night.
The man suffered significant burns and was transported to the Burn Unit at Tampa General Hospital., city officials said.
Two other people also were in the home; however, one refused treatment and the other suffered only minor burns.
Cape Dispatch received the 911 call reporting the fire at 1512 N..E 17th Avenue at 10:54 p.m.. Officials were told the occupants were still inside the residence. Cape Fire units arrived a few minutes later to find the home fully engulfed.
One person was out of the home, and another escaped with minor burns. Firefighters were able to rescue the remaining occupant, who had suffered serious burns and was airlifted to Tampa.
Firefighters also rescued a small dog from the home.
The State Fire Marshal’s is investigating the fire along with the Cape Coral Fire investigator. LCEC arrived to disconnect power, and the city’s building inspector also responded.
No damage estimate or cause of the fire was available Saturday.
