Public input to be sought before Cape Coral Parkway rebuild begins
The rebuilding of Cape Coral Parkway is still slated for next year, and the city’s transportation manager will be looking for community and business input in late January.
The exact date, time, and place of the meeting has not been scheduled but Steve Neff said another meeting will follow as construction draws near, possibly in March. Construction is expected to begin after “season” concludes in late spring.
“We want to have that meeting close to construction so people remember who we are and what we’re doing,” Neff said.
Neff added that crews likely will be able to work around the clock, with one lane dedicated to thru traffic during regular hours and two lanes during rush hour.
Community Redevelopment Agency Boardmember Frank Dethlefsen wanted to remind people that the project isn’t merely resurfacing the roadway but rebuilding it totally.
“It’s not just resurfacing, it’s taking it down to its very core,” Dethlefsen said.
In other news, the exact price of the copper needed for the LCEC underground transmission line is still unknown, according to city engineer Oliver Clarke.
Though an exact start date is unknown, the project is scheduled to start in mid-January.
