FMPD: Streets to be closed Friday due to president’s visit

In anticipation of President’s Obama’s visit Friday, July 20, the Fort Myers Police Department has announced that the following roads will be closed Friday morning at 6: Edwards Drive from Monroe Street to Dean Street, Monroe Street from Edwards Drive to Bay Street and Bay Street from Hendry Street to the exit of the City of Palms parking garage located at 2118 Bay Street

Additionally parking will be prohibited along Hendry Street from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd to Edwards Drive and Bay Street from Hendry Street to Dean Street.

There will be sporadic road closures during the day throughout the city. The FMPD is asking that people give themselves ample time to drive to and from downtown; and expect possible delays throughout the day.
