Country music jams to begin Sunday at the Shell Factory

2 min read

The Florida Country Music Association will hold a monthly jam at the Shell Factory & Nature Park every third Sunday of every month beginning this week.

Sonny White, who was inducted into the Florida Country Music Hall of Fame in 2005, won Senior Male Country and Gospel Vocalist that same year, and was named Senior Male Country and Gospel Vocalist again in 2007, said he is excited about this opportunity.

“I will be performing,” said White, who lives in North Fort Myers.

There will be no charge to attend. The jam will start at noon and last about three hours.

“We have good bands, single entertainers and most of the members play music,” White said.

“We have steel guitars, electric guitars, acoustic instruments and great singers,” he added. “If someone is interested in joining, they can come up and perform for one time, then they need to join if they want to keep performing with us.

It will be a family oriented show.

“It will be in Fishbones Restaurant,” White said.

He has five CDs and another in the works, “Through The Years.”

“Everybody has a good time when we get together,” White said. “The music speaks for itself.”

Shell Factory officials say they are pleased to host the event.

“We are so excited to be working with the SW FL Country Music Association to produce their monthly Country Music Jam Sessions,” said owner Pam Cronin. “We are looking forward to helping them build their membership and offer some wonderful, finger tappin’, foot stompin’ get up and dance music to our guests.”

The jams will be held in the Dolphin room.

Guests are encouraged to bring their guitars, harmonicas, banjos or fiddles and join in. Singers will also be invited to the stage.

Appetizers, lunch and adult beverages will be available.
