A man and a woman from Lehigh Acres have been arrested in connection with three robberies committed in two days – two of them less than 30 minutes apart.

Juli Ann Caprio, 26, 2404 Haviland Avenue, was charged with two counts of robbery without a weapon in connection with robberies as a Subway and a CVS drug store. Michael Anthony Gillett Cooper, 27, of 2404 Haviland Ave., was charged with robbery with a firearm in connection with a hold up at a 7-Eleven.

The robberies began on Sunday, Sept. 2, just after 11 a.m. at the Subway at 2802 Lee Boulevard, Lehigh Acres. A woman walked into the store, implied she had a weapon, and demanded money. The clerk complied and the woman left the store with an undisclosed amount of money.

No one was injured during the incident.

Approximately half hour later, a woman walked up to the CVS Pharmacy counter at 13591 Jetport Commerce Loop, Fort Myers, and asked for drugs. She claimed she was very scared and didn’t want to commit the robbery but there were men outside with guns that wanted the narcotics. The clerk gave her the drugs and she fled.

There were no injuries during this incident.

Video evidence was recovered from both locations showing the same woman in the same clothing at both locations.

On Monday, Sept. 3, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a robbery at 7-Eleven, 530 Joel Boulevard, Lehigh Acres. A man had entered the store and asked for money from the cash register. He said he was sorry but he owed someone money. The clerk initially thought he was joking and the robber lifted his shirt to show a handgun tucked in his waistband. The clerk activated the panic button and the man fled with no money.

There were no injuries during this incident.

Later in the week, robbery detectives were contacted by Crime Stoppers and given information from tips that identified a couple living at the same residence in Lehigh Acres as being responsible for all three robberies. Detectives prepared photo lineups with this information and positive identifications were made at all three locations.

During the course of the investigation detectives discovered Juli Caprio was on state probation for grand theft. She has received two additional charges of violation of probation for each of the robberies.
