Next month’s roster of activities at North Fort Myers Public Library offers topics for all ages. The following activities are free to the public:

ADULTS

* Books and Bites

10:30 a.m. Monday, January 7

Join our monthly social hour! We will discuss any books in any format, or movies that have piqued your interest. Whether you give it a rant or a rave it will be fun to talk. We provide the coffee and refreshments, you provide your enthusiasm. Registration is required.

* Meet the Author of Psychic Cassadaga

2 p.m. Thursday, January 10

Join local author Andrea Galabinski as she introduces her first novel, Psychic Cassadaga. Set in the real life town of Cassadaga, Florida, this rollicking, fast-paced mystery centers around the murder of fictional psychic-to-the-stars Sheila White. It’s up to quirky Naples-based writer and self-proclaimed Florida Cracker Sadie Flyntt to put the ‘chic’ in psychic as she turns amateur sleuth to solve a murder that in a town full of psychics, no one saw coming.

* Book Discussion: Vanessa Diffenbaugh’s Language of Flowers

2 p.m. Thursday, January 17

Eighteen-year-old Victoria crafts wonderful flower arrangements using her knowledge of flowers as a means to help others. Can this skill of Victoria’s create a way for her to deal with her past as well as to build lasting relationships with friends and loved ones?

* More Than a Trifling Affair: The Archaeology of the Civil War in Southwest Florida

2 p.m. Thursday, January 24

Learn about Florida’s vital role in the Civil War. How did a national struggle play out in our local communities? What was life like for those at home? What archaeological evidence of this tumultuous time was left and how did it shape southwest Florida as we know it today.

FAMILY

* Family Storytime

10:30 a.m. Wednesdays, January 16, 23, 30

This program is for the whole family and lasts about 30 minutes. Registration is required.

* Baby-Parent Rhyme Time

11 a.m. Thursday, January 17

Be prepared to tickle, jump and fly with your baby! These rhymes and songs are for infants, up to 24 months, accompanied by an adult. This 20-minute program is filled with songs designed to introduce rhyming and movement to infants. Registration is required.

CHILDREN

* Kids Read Down Fines

2 3 p.m. Saturday, January 5

Children and teens can earn a $2 coupon for every 15 minutes of reading, during the allotted time. A total of $8 per day may be earned. For ages 18 and younger. Coupons may be applied to cards issued to patrons age 18 and under only. Please bring your library card.

* Florida History Bingo

4 p.m. Thursday, January 17

Show what you know and learn more about our great state of Florida by joining this fun History Bingo game. For grades K-5. Registration is requested.

TEENS
