Home Centric opens at Merchants Crossing
One of the largest stores in an area shopping center is creating a new strategy to compete with other local home decor retailers.
Home Centric, a home-decor store focused on the family, has become the newest tenant of the Merchant Crossing Shopping Center in North Fort Myers.
The store will occupy about 15,000 square feet within the current Bealls Outlet footprint. The opening is part of parent company Bealls Inc. expansion strategy to compete with regional and national home decor retailers.
“We’ve had a longstanding relationship with Bealls Outlet and are excited that Merchants Crossing was chosen as one of Home Centric’s newest locations,” said Richard Birdoff, principal and president of RD Management in a statement.
Bealls Inc. owns more than 500 stores throughout the Southeast. The Bealls Outlet store is one of the anchor stores at Merchants Crossing, adding value to the shopping center and the community, the company stated.
The new strategy is part of what is expected to be some major changes at Merchants Crossing, located at the corner of New U.S. 41 and Pine Island Road.
“Bealls Outlet is a staple at Merchants Crossing, and we believe the new addition of Home Centric will offer more convenience and value to the region’s increasing population as the expanded store provides a one-stop-shop for all of your lifestyle needs.” Birdoff said.
Sometime next year, the shopping center north of Planet Fitness will be demolished to make room for a mixed-use project that will combine multi-family housing and commercial.
Last year, the plaza underwent a facade renovation funded through a pilot program where the county would provide grants to companies which do improvements to their existing businesses.
Home Centric is at 15201 N. Cleveland Ave., Suite 200. The direct Beall’s Outlet entry is right next door.
