Nearly 100 vendors, many of them local, came to the Fort Myers Home and Remodeling Show at the Lee Civic Center, with good crowds throughout the weekend.

“We’ve done better than other shows that have been put on. We have about 30 exhibitors who do our show and they have guidelines for COVID. If we had them here, it would be totally full,” said Jackielou, show manager. “The vendors are doing really well.”

While some stayed away, some mainstays returned. Among them was Elite Home Game Rooms, which brings in unique and classic pinball machines every time they come.

This time, they brought a $7,300 Led Zeppelin pinball machine that played whatever band favorite you wanted while you played, as well as a vintage machine from the 1950s.

“We have something for everybody. Our virtual pinball (which are $5,000) has 863 screens going back to the ’50s and have vintage and new machines,” said John Rathgeber, assistant sales manager. “We have about 15 of the Led Zeppelin ones in stock.”

There were also booths that promoted health and wellness. Mario Orozco promoted his Euro Body Shaper, which his daughter helped demonstrate. The machine works all the muscles to help people get in shape, he said.

Orozco said they lost about 80 percent of their business during the pandemic, but sales are slowly improving.

“We go around the country to sell our products and events like this. We’ll have 10 or 15 crews going across the country selling all these products,” Orozco said. “With this economy, we’re starting to get results, but we suffered tremendously because we didn’t do shows.”

Elle Corcoran was with Salad Master, a company that comes to your house to cook you a five-course gourmet meal as a way to sell their cooking products.

“We get people to do our shows by doing these events. They book more shows and it keeps us in business,” Corcoran said. “During COVID, we did the shows virtually in Zoom, but we’re going to the people to sell.”

As for the people who attended, they saw a well-rounded, complete show with just about everything you want for the home.

“We’re filling time here. We bought some things like something to clean lint from your car,” said Herman Fuentes from Coral Gables. “We also got some information on work for the garage, just in case.”
