Christmas in July continues at The Shell Factory
Still time for an early visit with Santa
Last year, the Shell Factory & Nature Park did the best it could under the circumstances regarding its Christmas in July promotion.
The kids had to be separated from Santa Claus as they told him what they wanted for Christmas in December, ever mindful we were in the middle of a pandemic.
This year, no such limitations exist, and the 12th annual Christmas in July, which started July 1, will go on without restrictions.
The fun will happen daily, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and it will feature several visits from grand old elf himself, who could only visit the kids for one day last year so he wouldn’t risk COVID.
“We did the best we could in keeping with all the guidelines intact, but of course it was hard,” said Shell Factory general manager Anne Sheridan. “However, we still had a great crowd last year.”
Santa visited on Saturday and Sunday, July 10 and 11, from 10 a.m. to noon, and will again on July 17, from 10 a.m. to noon and on the Sunday, July 18, when Breakfast with Santa will happen at the Southern Grill from 9 to 11 a.m. before he goes to the Christmas House to see the children one more time, from noon to 2 p.m.
Breakfast with Santa will be for kids 12 and under and $8.95 for adults including a beverage. Call Ashley for reservations at 995-2141, ext. 110.
With all the restrictions lifted, the children will again be allowed to sit on Santa’s lap, though they don’t have to if the parents still feel uncomfortable.
There will also be a 20 percent discount on all collectibles not already marked down, as well as the 12 Days of Christmas giveaways at the Christmas House. The carousel horses will also be decked out in their Christmas best as holiday music will play throughout the month.
“And the kids can still write a letter to Santa and he answers every letter he receives even though it’s July,” Sheridan said. “It’s become really popular. People love the letters and they’re all answered. Santa’s job is never done.”
