Calvin Peete Classic set for Oct. 16
Golfers, sponsors sought
The fifth annual charitable Calvin Peete Classic will be held Saturday, Oct. 16, at Magnolia Landing beginning at 1 p.m.
Calvin Peete was the most successful African American golfer to have played on the PGA tour prior to Tiger Woods and was a resident of North Fort Myers.
“Our tournament is a great opportunity to support a worthy cause and at the same time receive valuable exposure,” said Wendy Murray, executive director of the North Ft Myers Chamber of Commerce which is organizing the event.
Entry fee for golfers is $105 per person, which includes18 holes of golf, cart, range balls, beautiful buffet after the event, a swag bag and free beer and drinks on the course as well as an opportunity to compete for lots of prizes.
A full field of 72 golfers is expected.
“Put your team together soon because we only have a few more slots left for golfers. 1 p.m. shotgun start,” Murray said. “Call me and register a space for your team or yourself!”
In addition to golf participants, sponsors are being sought. Sponsorship needs include branded item for players swag bags, hole sponsorships and sponsors for the longest drive and putting green contests.
