Community Connection: A lot doing and a lot coming up
Hello, North Fort Myers.
It’s so good to be able to give you the latest. There is a lot doing and a lot coming up:
— Ellsworth Heating & Cooling has presented three free AC units as part of its 18th annual Christmas in July giveaway. The winners are the Amerman family, which received a Traine system; the Marquis family, which received a Lennox system; and the Spencer family, which received an Airtemp system. The value of the new AC units is about $16,000 each.
— The Civic Association met and placed Melvin Scroggins in the vacant Board seat.
— Civic has decided to host a Drag Queen Bingo on Sept. 25 at Victory Lane on Hancock Bridge Parkway. (See NFMcivic.com for more details as things develop.)
— The Adopt A Teacher project is moving forward. Eight teachers have been selected: Bayshore Elementary – Ali Hunt, Hancock Creek Elementary – Brittany Wood, J. Colin English Elementary – Monica Stevens, Littleton Elementary – Amy Scott, North Fort Myers Academy for the Arts Elementary – Agne Gaijaouskaite, Tropic Isles Elementary – Terri Fay, North Fort Myers Academy for the Arts Middle – Danielle Caple, North Fort Myers High – Keith Zumar. The amount each teacher will receive will be $175 and were to be presented to the teachers at the Civic meeting on Sept. 14 at the North Fort Myers Recreation Center, 2000 North Recreation Way.
— We have met with folks at the Rec Center and finalized the Fall Festival to be held from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 22, at the Rec Center.
— On Saturday, Oct. 23, at 7:30 p.m., a free movie will be shown on the football field. It will be Goosebumps.
As we look at the rest of the year, we will be putting together the the Angel Tree, North Fort Myers Santa Run, Holiday Giveaways, and possible monthly events.
