Nam Jam returns to Shell Factory this Sunday

By CHUCK BALLARO - | Oct 13, 2021

Nam Jam will return to The Shell Factory & Nature Park this Sunday.

The event, now in its fifth year will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the middle parking lot. A ceremony honoring veterans will begin at 2 p.m.

The veterans-oriented event will feature live music and entertainment, food for purchase, specials for veterans, and a special tribute to our military.

Anne Sheridan, general manager of the Shell Factory, said it’s always great to be able to pay tribute to those who have served, no matter when or with whom.

“It’s so heartwarming. The people who come out here are so supportive of all our vets, especially our Vietnam vets. They find it important they have a special mark in history,” Sheridan said.

Admission is free to all attendees, and veterans who present a military ID receive free admission to the nature park, a free round of mini golf for four, hot dog and chips, tickets for two draft beers or one well drink and 20 percent off purchases in the retail store.

Additionally, there will be a 50/50 raffle, with half of the proceeds benefitting the Southwest Florida Military Museum and various critters, from an armadillo, sloth, zebra, and more.

A veteran’s tribute which begins at 2 p.m. will include bagpipers, a special appearance by a local Vietnam veteran, there will be an honor guard, “Taps” will be played, and the JROTC from Mariner High School will be there to greet the guests, help get them out of their cars and escort them in.

“It’s going to be a great ceremony and I can’t wait to honor all the veterans again,” Sheridan said.

“This event is so meaningful to the Shell Factory and the Southwest Florida community,” said owner Pam Cronin. “The past three years of hosting the event has afforded us the opportunity to meet veterans throughout the area and honor them for their service. This is an overall rewarding experience and a small way to show our appreciation.”

The Shell Factory is at 16554 N. Cleveland Ave. For more information visit shellfactory.com
