Alliance for the Arts announces call for entries for 50th Anniversary Pop-Up Museum50
The Alliance for the Arts is excited to announce a call for artists for its Pop-Up Museum50, a special exhibition celebrating the Alliance’s 50th anniversary. This juried exhibition will feature 50 museum-quality works by contemporary artists from across Southwest Florida. The exhibition will be held on March 1-2, 2025, at the Alliance for the Arts campus.
The Pop-Up Museum50 is part of the Alliance’s yearlong celebration of five decades of promoting and supporting arts in the community. Artists from Sarasota to Marco Island are invited to submit original works in a variety of media, including painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, printmaking, and textiles.
“This exhibition will showcase the diverse talent of Southwest Florida artists while supporting the future of the arts in our region,” said Molly Rowan-Deckart, Executive Director of the Alliance for the Arts. “We encourage all artists to be part of this exciting milestone.”
Eligibility and Submission Details:
* Eligibility: Open to all artists residing in Southwest Florida.
* Mediums Accepted: Painting (oil, acrylic, collage, watercolor, mixed media), drawing, photography, sculpture, printmaking, or textiles. No giclees will be accepted.
* Entry Fee: $50 non-refundable.
* Deadline: Submissions must be completed online by Monday, November 4, 2024, at 11:59 P.M.
* Submission Format: Digital images of artwork in JPG or PNG format. No physical submissions will be accepted at the Alliance.
Each entry must consist of one museum-quality artwork, and accepted artists will also be asked to donate a small framed work (no larger than 9” x 12″) for a future Alliance fundraiser. All 2D artwork must be wired and ready to hang, not exceeding 40 inches on any side. 3D works must not exceed six feet in any direction or weigh more than 150 pounds.
Juror:
The works will be juried by Marcus Jansen, an internationally celebrated artist known for his dynamic and thought-provoking art. For more information about Marcus Jansen, visit marcusjansen.com.
Exhibition Details:
* Exhibition Dates: Saturday, March 1, 2025 – Sunday, March 2, 2025
* Opening Reception: Saturday, March 1, 2025 (Time TBA)
* Matinee Viewing: Sunday, March 2, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
* Artwork Drop-off: Accepted works must be dropped off at the Alliance for the Arts on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2025, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
* Artwork Pickup: All accepted works must be picked up on Monday, March 3, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sales Information:
All selected works must be available for sale during the exhibition, with 100% of the proceeds going to the artist. Additionally, the donation of a small original artwork (9“x12”) is required for future Alliance fundraisers.
