A new cafe has opened in North Fort Myers. Galini’s Deli-Cafe is now serving up breakfast and lunch in the United Plaza.

They are also starting May Monday Madness – a promotion with a free cup of coffee every Monday in May – to bring people in to see the new shop.

Prices are extremely reasonable. You can get a breakfast burrito or sandwich for $2.59 and lunch items starting at $1.49 with many at $3.95.

Breakfast items include a Spanish Breakfast Burrito, Canadian Breakfast Sandwich and a “Have It Your Way Sandwich” where you can pick the items. For lunch there is The Galini, salami, pepperoni and capicola with roasted red peppers and a Veggie Wrap.

These items have already proven to be popular in the short time they have been open, said owner Eileen Lepore. She and her husband Glenn co-own the cafe. They came upon the name through their granddaughter. “My 9-year-old granddaughter Kerri Taylor came up with it. It’s a combination of my name and my husband’s name,” said Eileen.

“We wanted to start a new business and started looking about a year ago. Th most important thing is that it was close to home.”

She said it just takes few minutes to get to the cafe from their home in Fort Myers, and the view from the Caloosatchee Bridge is beautiful every day coming in.

She said they like the location. The plaza is at the corner of Pondella and U.S. 41 in the United Plaza, behind SunTrust Bank. “It’s a nice little plaza with very nice people, they are very friendly.”

Coffee is a big draw there, and they have Espressos and Cappuccinos. “We get our coffees from Java D’Oro in Cape Coral, and they are wonderful. They actually roast their own beans there. We’re offering that May Monday Madness free cup of coffee so people can see how good the coffee really is.”

The shop also offers free WiFi, catering and business lunches. “And people can call ahead and we’ll have their order ready for them when they arrive.”

They is also a 10 percent senior discount, and free fountain drinks with sub or sandwich purchase (with coupon). It’s all about keeping prices reasonable, she said.

“Many have commented that they really are.”

They also have smoothies and Blue Bunny Ice Cream novelties, which customers have also said they like.

Eileen is originally from New England.

“I ran a General Store there that had a full deli,” she said. Her husband is in telecommunications, so she runs the shop.

She said they were snowbirds for years, and when the idea of a move to Florid was formed, they knew it would be the Gulf Coast. “It’s quieter and we like it much better here,” she said.

Hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and the address is 13971 N. Cleveland Ave. The phone number is 656-6500.
